A few words on the eSnips Communities and tagging

Some of you asked questions about the eSnips communities, how they work and how to join them. Here is some more information that can help.
The eSnips communities were created to provide a group of people who share a common interest with a home.  Each community is based around a specific interest as expressed by the tags used to describe the file or folder.
To become a member in a community, all you need to do is to share files or create folders that use the community’s tag. 
For example, tagging an image file with the tag “photo” will automatically include it in the Photography Community. You will also instantly become a member of the photography community.
To join the Karaoke Community, tag your stuff with "karaoke"
To join the Painting Community, tag your stuff with "painting".
To join the DJs Community, tag your stuff with "remix".
To join the Video Community, tag your stuff with "video".
To join the Poetry Community, tag your stuff with "poetry".
The community tags are specified at the top of each community page, like this:

Please make sure you tag your content only with tags that truly describe what it's about. This way your content (and you) will belong only to the communities that are dedicated to your passion, art or hobby. Tagging correctly will ensure eSnippers who share an interest find each other in the communities.
Please don't tag your abstract painting with "karaoke" or your remix with "painting". We’ve gotten lots of feedback from annoyed users who see stuff that doesn’t belong to the community being featured on the page. Please respect the community members and keep our communities interesting and focused.
And if you have suggestions for additional communities, or any other suggestions, please send them over.

Join the eSnips Poetry Community

It's time to take your poems out of the drawer! A new eSnips community was added this weekend – the Poetry Community. It's the place to find poets who share your passion for the written word. It's where you can receive honest feedback on your work and learn from other poets' writings. Talk about your muse, what you love to write about and tell everyone where your next reading will be. Whether you choose to read out your poems (remember how easy it is to record audio with eSnips?) or write them in a Word document – just remember to tag them with "poetry" so you can become a member of the Poetry Community and start sharing your passion.

New version launched this week

We've launched a new version this week with a bunch of new features and some new designs.
The Painting, Karaoke, DJs and Photography communities have a fresh new look.
   

   
There's a new Video Community. Check out all the funny and strange videos other eSnippers are sharing and if you have videos to share, make sure you tag them with "video". More communities will be added soon.

We've added the option to create a personal URL for your eSnips profile page. Remember the long URL with all the numbers and letters? No more. Now you can choose your own profile address and make it easy to remember. Mine, for example, is now: http://www.esnips.com/user/EfratMoshkoviz. To change your profile's web address, go to edit your profile and write your address in the box on the right. Please make sure to read the important tips mentioned in this box.

You'll also notice that you can leave comments on eSnippers' profiles now. It's a great way to communicate with other eSnippers and share your thoughts with them.

We've also added a bunch of new widgets lately and designed a new page for them to make it easier to view and choose between them. For every file and folder on eSnips you can create a widget to place in your blog, forum or website. You will find the "create a widget" link next to all files and inside each folder under "Things you can do".
Here's a cool example. Click on the widget below to hear a classic Christmas song (sung by Micky):

Much more interesting than a simple link, don't you think? New and extremely cool widgets will be added soon. If you have any ideas of your own for widgets, please send them over.

We've received wonderful feedback from you lately about all the changes we've been making and interesting suggestions for additional changes. A big thank you to all of you who took the time to let us know what you think! It's extremely valuable to us, especially when we think what we'll be working on next. So please keep the feedbacks coming.

Get into the holiday spirit and start singing your heart out! Go to the eSnips Homepage and join the eSnips karaoke singers who sing their favorite Christmas songs.

There are over a 100 songs on the special holiday homepage so make sure you have plenty of time. Just click on Santa's belly and the song will start playing. But beware, once you start, it'll be impossible to stop singing :-)

New on eSnips

We added a couple of new things to eSnips yesterday that I think you will find very useful.
eSnips search results
You can now narrow down your search results by choosing what type of stuff you'd like to see: all files, only folders, only images, only videos, only audio & music or only products for sale.

If you choose the option "For sale" you will get products that eSnippers are selling and that are tagged with the tag you are searching for.
For example, if you search for "craft":

Art for sale in the Painting and Photography Communities
We've added a simple new way for you to see what artists in the Painting and Photography Communities are selling. Just click on the "For Sale" tab and you will see the latest paintings and photographs you can buy. If you want the items you are selling to be included, don't forget to tag them with the appropriate community tags.
