Spoken Word

Spoken Word

It was difficult to write this Blog, to introduce my very fledgling playlist of Spoken Word poetry….probably because anything I compose will sound lame compared to the words and voices of these poets. So I will just write – here are some beautiful, strong, easygoing and hard poems, and more will be added as they are found.

Lonnie's Spoken Word Playlist

Enjoy.

The Mystery of Parkour

I just found this video: Parkour by what looks like two really young guys....

I'm a secret Parkour lover (I guess it's not a secret anymore) ...show me a good clip of someone throwing himself off a building just to catch a flagpole and bounce off a garbage can to roll over on grass and take off in the next second, and it doesnt take much for me to mentally photoshop my face over his!

So when i found this clip, i didnt pay attention at first to the landscape...but then it started to dawn on me that....hey, that looks familar! They are around here somewhere!! I am so happy! I am on a quest to find these guys. Anyone who has a clue - let me know at www.esnips.com/user/Lonnie

Humble thanks will be offered.

Graphic artists, unite!

A few weeks ago I put up a challenge to all you graphic designers: let’s see what you can do with Snippy.

Ice Rain has posted the amusing flash simply titled: Snippy Goes Skateboarding. Enjoy!

Skateboard

Anyone interested in taking Snippy to the moon, Paris or the Great Wall of China can get the graphics here.

Loooooooong Weekend

We’re off to a long holiday weekend here at eSnips. We sincerely hope that the site will continue without any glitches as we stumble from one holiday meal to another.  In any case, please be patient with us and I assure you that we’ll take care of everything eventually as soon as we can.

The Dumpster

Every morning, driving into our parking lot here at the office, I’m confronted by the big eSnips billboard with a huge arrow pointing to the left, which I’ve posted below for your enjoyment. However, what completely bums me each and every morning is that our wonderful Snippy logo is situated above a dumpster…

Sigh.  What a waste of a branding opportunity J

eSnips Radio: 9 channels all featuring… you!

The eSnips radio was launched in April, but I have a feeling that it’s underused. The radio streams 40 songs and tracks from each of 9 eSnips communities: Blues, Electronics, Karaoke, Industrial, Jazz, Rap, Reggae, Remix, and Rock (I’ve alphabetized the list as to not insult anyone.)

The songs are always changing because inclusion in a specific radio channel is based on the community to which the song belongs AND on being favorited.  It’s our way to bring songs that listeners enjoy to the attention of the rest of the community.  I listen to it here at my desk (shhh.. don’t tell anyone) because it’s a great way to listen to the stuff that you ‘Snippers have shared in a sort of random manner and not just by listening to my usual faves.

You can access the radio channels from every music community, and create a widget to place on your blog, as I’ve done below.

So, listen up!

And, as always, we await your feedback.

Need faster uploads? You got ‘em!

Two new items that we wanted to tell you about that are part of our new version:

The flash upload is now the default way to upload files on eSnips. When you click on “upload files” from a folder or from “My eSnips” you now see a new interface: our flash-based upload. The new interface will let you upload several files at once, describe and tag the files. Also, the upload itself is much faster than before.  Regular_upload Of course, you can always use our old upload by clicking the “Regular Upload” button at the top right of the screen.

Note that the toolbar is still the easiest way to upload files from your desktop to your eSnips account.

We also launched a new feature that will help keep copyrighted materials away from eSnips.  The new system will prevent the upload of files that have previously reported as a violation of copyright and removed from the site.   We hope that this will put the spotlight on your original songs and covers, writings, music, images and work.
