New user forum

Faithful readers and commenters - listen up!

We've finally opened a user forum/message board for all of your thoughts on eSnips.  We want to hear your feedback, complaints, gripes, requests and if possible, and even a kind word every once in a while.  Lonnie and I will try to answer as soon as possible, but I'm sure others here at eSnips will be peeping in every once in a while.

Next time we do something you don't like, or something you love - let us know!

Thanks!

Music widgets: how to play your music on other sites

Some of you have left comments below about creating music widgets. What are widgets?  They’re a simple way to play your songs on other websites or your blog. Essentially you create a bit of code that you copy from the eSnips widget page and paste it wherever you want your songs to be played.

How do you do it?  File_in_folder_widget

First, find the song you want to link to/play on eSnips. Then from either the folder view (top image on right) or the file view (bottom image) click on “MP3 Widget”File_in_viewer_widget_2

Second, select the graphics for your widget player with a fun design – with some you can customize color and playing options too.

When you’re done, click on the code box to copy it to the clipboard. Take a look at the screenshot of the widget creation page below.  The code is in section 3 – that’s right, under “Cut and Paste”!!

After copying the code, paste it where you want.  Save!  The widget you chose will appear on your site.

Site problems

I want to apologize for some of the problems you may be experiencing on the site today. You may have noticed that some files and folders are not accessible, and some of you may be having problems logging in.  Our team has been working hard to solve both of these issues and we hope to have a solution soon.

Also, we’ve temporarily disabled the “download file” capability to improve performance on eSnips. We’re working on a solution to restore this functionality, and I’ll keep you updated.

Thanks for your patience!!

eSnips at Web 2.0 Expo

Yael and I are in sunny California staffing the eSnips booth at the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco. Webex2007_logo

We're here to find out what's new in the Web 2.0 space, listen to new ideas, and to meet the people behind the websites.  We're also here to talk about the wonderful content being shared on eSnips and in the communities.  We're putting the spotlight on our music communities and trying to give visitors to our booth a small taste of the amazing original music that DJs, singers, bands and musicians share on eSnips.

We're always looking for was to give our musicians a bigger stage, a better way to be heard.  This was the motivation behind eSnips Radio -- streaming original music from all over eSnips, where each community has its own "channel."  You can listen to all the radio stations here.

This is brand new -- please let me know what you think!

New communities & new community goddess

Some of you have probably noticed the growing number of special communities on eSnips.  We've quietly launched a few more in the past few weeks and I urge you to check them out.  Really special and unique works are being shared, especially in my faves, the visual arts.

Needlecraft_header I wanted to take a moment to introduce you to three budding communities on eSnips -- the Needlecraft Community has eSnippers sharing everything from patterns to finished projects; in Christianity sermons and some wonderful gospel singing is being shared, and I'm beginning to see some really good work in Sculpture.

And speaking of communities, I'd like to introduce you to our new community goddess - Lonnie Hendrickson.  You may have already met Lonnie in the forums, where she's busy making sure y'all are enjoying eSnips in general and the communities in particular.  Be nice to Lonnie --- she's the one we always listen to when she starts a sentence with "...but the users want..."

Welcome aboard Lonnie!

Uploader? Of course we have one!

In a comment to the birthday post, below, Eddy said that having an eSnips uploader would be cool.  Well, Eddy, your wish is our command, and you can get it here

Truth is, we've had the Uploader for quite a while - and it has lots of other functions beyond fast and easy uploads such as one-click uploads, quick audio/video recording directly to your account, and our really cool snipping tool which lets you capture partial screenshots. Read more here

Happy Snippin' !
